First "big" November Snowfall

With the first “big” snowfall arriving today, it’s beginning to look and feel like winter. The temperature has dropped to below freezing, the snow is falling in large, wet lumps from the sky and piling up, layer upon layer, on the chilly ground.

Perhaps before long, our home will be tucked in for winter, just like this:

“God thunders wondrously with His voice;
He does great things that we cannot comprehend.
For to the snow He says, ‘Fall on the earth,’
likewise to the downpour, His mighty downpour.”

Your rights as a parent are fading fast.

This docudrama briefs you on what has happened, how the government believes it can treat parents, and what you can do to help keep the UNCRC from tearing down our nation…

ParentalRights.org’s goal is to pass the following amendment to the U.S. Constitution to protect the fundamental rights of parents in raising their children:

“SECTION ONE: The liberty of parents to direct the upbringing and education of their children is a fundamental right.

“SECTION TWO: Neither the United States nor any State shall infringe upon this right without demonstrating that its governmental interest as applied to the person is of the highest order and not otherwise served.

“SECTION THREE: No treaty may adopted nor shall any source of international law be employed to supersede, modify, interpret, or apply to the rights guaranteed by this article.”

Get involved: Sign the petition, follow them on Facebook here and here, spread
the word to your friends and family, write your newspaper, call your Congressmen.

Morning in the Mountains

We rose last Thursday morning to find this beautiful landscape in the mountains of North Carolina. A chilly morning, a foggy haze, and a warm cup of coffee made for a peaceful beginning to a weekend filled with delightful fellowship, encouraging and challenging messages, and rejoicing with many about the great work of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Gospel-Centered Marriages for a Glorious Church conference was a grand adventure! Photos and notes from the conference are coming soon… stay updated here.

“Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands. Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her, that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the Word, so that He might present the church to Himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.”
—Ephesians 5:24-27

Crate and Brick

We were able to pick up several old apple crates from the orchard. They each will come in most handy, whether for storing fruits and vegetables, posing as a bookshelf, equipment holder for photography outings, or simply a beautifully textured prop for a photo-shoot!

Apples

One of the joys of autumn is driving to the local orchard and stocking up on apples for the next three seasons. The storefront smells delightful, and the selection of apples is quite varied (my favorite type being Jonagold).

A few weeks ago we peeled, cored, sliced, and froze over one hundred pounds of this crisp, juicy fruit. We hope to preserve more in a couple weeks, if the orchard still has enough.

We’ve already made cobblers from some of the apples. Delicious!

Abby | Class of 2012

On Monday evening I enjoyed taking Abby’s senior portraits in the park (it was so nice to catch up with her!). The temperature was rather chilly, but the warm autumn colors surrounding us and her complimenting wardrobe made up for the cool breeze!

Boots on the stream...

‎”Every woman, whether rich or poor, married or single, has a circle of influence within which, according to her character, she is exerting a certain amount of power for good or harm. Every woman by her virtue or her vice, by her wisdom or her folly, by her dignity or her levity is adding something to our national elevation or degradation.” —John Angell James

Anniversary Sale
Photography by Jonathan Hedrick

The past two years have gone by quickly.

Two years ago, Noble Rose Press started out as a simple idea for an Etsy shop. But it rapidly grew after a few emails, expressed interest, and business research… turning the idea into a larger project.

The idea began in May 2009 and turned into reality in October 2009 when a pallet of boxes containing paper doll books was delivered and moved into our home. Then it grew again in October 2010 when a load of new paper doll books, with the addition of coloring books, arrived at our door and moved in with us.

Those boxes have become a part of our lives, filled with tales of virtuous womanhood, illustrations of beautiful family life, and clothing from times past. (Boxes make for great end-tables in the living room, too!)

To celebrate the second anniversary of our publishing company, Noble Rose Press, we are having a sale

We are thankful to the Lord for the way He has provided opportunities and granted the strength to persevere in creating products that elevate virtue through history and art.

But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession,
and
through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of Him everywhere.

—II Corinthians 2:14
