Breezy and I spent the last six weeks working on a project that the Lord blessed us with. He has seen us through every moment of painting, designing, and writing, giving us inspiration and perseverance!
All of your guesses have been most inspiring (some of you even guessed another project we have in the works), and a few of you guessed correctly! The first was Maddy (I’ve emailed you!), who gets to choose which C — or Collection — she would like.
Our project is . . . A Paper Doll Series of Historical Women in Christ’s Kingdom!

Entitled Daughters of His Story Paper Dolls, this “new series of paper dolls gives young ladies a wholesome and delightful product to enjoy while strengthening them in biblical femininity, character, and love for history. Beautifully and modestly dressed, the ladies featured in these collections are women of God who sacrificed much to serve the Lord, their husbands, and their families.”
Each collection comes with two ladies, two short biographies, three outfits apiece, two timeline figures, and a pocket to be attached to the inside of the keepsake folder. (Cutting is required, so parental oversight is suggested for younger girls.)

As to the clues . . .
— Anything having to do with food was referring to hospitality (these ladies were very hospitable).
— The Queens — Queen Anne’s Lace — has to do with future ladies which, Lord willing, will be included in future Collections (at the time we had not selected all of the ladies for the first three collections).
— The Computer desk is where I have sat for the past six weeks, cleaning up the images and laying out the booklets.
— The C1, C2 and C3 color swatches are the background colors of the collection covers.
— The Toys from the Past was hinting at paper dolls as toys from the past.
— The Clues with Abigail Adams referred to the research done for Collection Two (which includes Abigail Adams).

These dolls are currently at the printers, and should be available, Lord willing, by early October!

Research
We’ve had some very close guesses, and if two of them were put together you would find out what the *project* is. The first person to correctly guess what we were working on will win one of our C’s! Click here for more details!

Breezy and I, this is our “official” picture for the project.
The *project* is a part of our new home business. Breezy and I are working on a project that the Lord has blessed us with that we pray He will use in the lives of many young ladies!
The whole process has been a wonderful learning opportunity. The resources that we have found most helpful have been New Venture Lab and the Entrepreneurial Bootcamp (and of course our sweet mother who did lots of research as we worked). During the whole process it has been amazing to see God’s hand in all of it — only by God’s grace have we been able to accomplish this!
On Friday we will announce what our project is!
In the meantime you can continue to guess what the *project* might be, as the first person to guess correctly (in a comment on Breezy’s blog or mine) will receive one of the C’s we’ve been working on (the winner can choose which one)! To help you out, we (Breezy and I) will be posting clues over the next couple days.
Start guessing away!
Stay tuned in so you don’t miss out on the surprise!

30 August 2009

What a beautiful day the Sabbath is! It is a day where we gather as believers to listen to God’s Word being preached, praising and thanking Him for His great works. It is a day of rest, recuperating from the previous week and rejuvenating for the upcoming week. It is a day of resting in Christ our Savior.
“Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and made it holy.”
– Exodus 20:8-11
“God gave us the Sabbath for our benefit . . . He has made us so that we need rest one day in seven. It has been proved, upon fair trial, that men cannot do as much, nor preserve their health as well, by laboring seven days in a week, as they can by laboring six days, and resting one day in a week.
If there were no Sabbath, you would have no day of rest. You would grow weary of school, if you were obliged to attend and study seven days in a week. If you are kept at home to work, you would soon tire out, if you had to labor every day in the week. But, by resting every seventh day, you get recruited, so that you are able to go on with study or work with new vigor.
The Sabbath, in this respect, is then a great blessing to you; and you ought to be so thankful to God for it, as to keep it strictly according to His command.”
– How to be a Lady by Harvey Newcomb, 1850

Clue:

It’s funny how much time some things take — especially when we’re being perfectionists. Don’t get me wrong, we’re not perfectionists in everything, just mainly in the art world (at least we try to be . . . but it doesn’t always work).
Breezy and I were looking for the “perfect” color of green for our *project*, and it didn’t seem that we were getting anywhere. Over the whole search, we looked at over 50 different greens. They all seemed to be too light, too dark, too cool, too warm, too neon, etc.
We came to a color that was so close we wanted to settle for it, but we knew it wasn’t quite right. Daddy and Momma were listening to us discuss the green (yes, there truly is a lot you can say about a particular shade of green!), when Momma jokingly said,
“Put a 7 on the end of it!”
It was worth a try. And, sure enough, it worked. It worked! Oh, how splendidly shocked and happy we were! Something as simple as exchanging the last number of the color code with a 7 fixed our dilemma.
We like the number 7. God used it frequently in Scripture, making it a very fine number, indeed! It is also pleasing to the eye, pleasing to the ear, and the perfect number for making the perfect color.
That’s all it took: adding the little #7 on the end of the code – problem solved!

Now, what could I be doing? And what would it have to do with this?
Hmmm . . . stayed tuned to find out!
