Faith, Hope, and Love | Illustrated by Breezy Brookshire

They’re here! These brand new board books arrived filled with delightful stories by Amy Parker and darling illustrations by my sister Breezy Brookshire!

This series of three board books features an elephant, an owl, and a hedgehog:

“How Far is Faith?”

“How High is Hope?”

“How Big is Love?”

(And there is a devotional available for pre-order, which will release November 1st: “Faith, Hope, and Love Devotional”!)

While I’m probably Breezy’s biggest fan, I’m also her visual editor. That basically means that I handle the digital side of her book illustrating – once she has finished each painting, it goes through my hands as I scan, edit, and prepare it for the publisher.

It’s amazing to hold the fruit of countless prayers and many months work by a great team with B&H Kids. From manuscripts to thumbnails, to sketches and watercolors, to scans and PDFs. *happy sigh*

There’s a calm to seeing a project come full circle, completed and ready to share with the world. Faith. Hope. Love. That joy of knowing it’s finished… and now it’s going out in an effort to encourage and inspire many little people, just like when “Audrey Bunny” and “For Such a Time as This” released.

“So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three;
but the greatest of these is love.”

—1 Corinthians 13:13

My sister is an artist. Her artwork is beautiful, wholesome, and truly delightful. Each piece tells a story, a story of adventure, joy, faithfulness, discovery, friendship, work, love, childhood, etc.

Last week, I had the great pleasure of setting up her online portfolio

And now you can easily enjoy a closer look at her illustrations and sketchbook!

It has been such a blessing to watch her cultivate this gift, and develop an amazing God-given talent… but the best part is how she seeks to honor the Lord through the work of her hands.

You can visit her online portfolio at BreezyTulip.com!

Old Books

Harvesting (scanning) textures and graphics out of a stack of old books from my collection. Stepping Heavenward is a wonderful book – if you find a copy, whether it be new or old, I highly recommend you pick it up and read it!

Gluten-Free French Toast

Making French Toast out of our gluten-free almond bread. Delicious! I believe it had been a little too long since making French Toast.

Toad in the Hole

Smiling at Mum’s Toad-in-the-Hole creation for Dad’s breakfast. (Yes, that would be gluten-rich bread – homemade whole-wheat bread, to be exact.)

Aprons

And also cooking up some ideas for re-opening the Etsy shop! Stay tuned!

Muthering Heights

The latest blog design to emerge from my studio is for Jessica Heights at Muthering Heights and Other Senseless Sensibility.

Surrounding the header and main body of the blog is a unique frame featuring whimsical illustrations, all of which were either created or edited in Adobe Illustrator (the drawing behind the “M” and frame inside the header are by my dear sister).

The color scheme was created as the base for the blog’s palette before the design process had begun. And the more I’ve seen of these special colors together, the fonder I’ve become of them.

Overall, we strove to capture a Victorian style that appealed to modern taste. Make sure to visit Muthering Heights to take a closer look!

Your Sacred Calling Design

The latest design I created was for the dear Mrs. Stacy McDonald of Your Sacred Calling.Your Sacred Calling

In both the header and menu is the scan from a blank page in one of my old books. (There are so many uses for scans of old books!) Two lovely fonts make up for the header text as well as the sidebar titles, and the creamy background pulls all the warm colors together in one smooth and gentle stroke.

Inscribed in the sidebar is this beautiful quote:

What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in Heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well pleasing to God, not on account of the position or work, but on account of the Word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow.” —Martin Luther

You might want to head on over to Your Sacred Calling and look through some of the wonderful articles written there and maybe even leave Mrs. McDonald a note!

P.S. At this time I am not taking on any new clients for blog design (Mrs. McDonald has been on the schedule for quite a while), but if/when I do start offering design services again, I will be sure to post about it here on my blog. (You can subscribe here.)
