An old, painted crate from a rummage sale has made the perfect home for our handmade soap, making a cheerful display in our kitchen (especially with the little “sunshine” decoration).
Every batch of soap we’ve made in our home has been unique, but each and every bar of soap makes for a smooth, refreshing, and bubbly wash.
Crate: Inexpensive yard sale find
Soap: Homemade – plain & oatmeal
Decoration: Handmade and easy to make
(for a closer look, see them in a tree or basket)
P.S. You can find the recipe for this kind of soap on the Homestead Blessings: The Art of Soap Making DVD.

We tried our hand at homemade soap last year and I love it! So rewarding making soap from scratch! ♥
could you share your soap recipe?
My sister, mother, and I just made our first batch of basic soap yesterday. We are in the waiting process to see if it worked! Yours is beautiful and Lord willing ours will also be beautiful when finished. We plan to mill it when we are done. So it will be a long time before its done, a few weeks. I will have to post about it when its done.
Your pictures are inspiring and what a blessing your blog is!
In Christ,
Rebecca
Your homemade soap looks so pretty! I have a bar of homemade soap that is rose scented and I love it! Will you post the recipe?
Blessings,
Kristiana
Do you have a “recipe” for your soap? I have made glycerin soap before and I would like to try some other kinds too.
Ladies, you can find the recipe for this kind of soap on the Homestead Blessings: The Art of Soap Making DVD. Blessings, Emily Rose
Oh, the photos are great! I bet the soap has a lovely scent too. :) I think I should learn how to make soap myself. It sounds like it can be a lot of fun and economical at the same time! Blessings!
I just bought three of their videos- bread making, quilting, and crafts! So excited! Watched the breadmaking one tonight and loved it! Can’t wait to make a loaf! Next, the canning video is on my list. They are so inspiring!
Where do you get your materials for the soap making??
How creative and useful at the same time. :-)
We too, love using the extras to make “soap balls”…they’re also amazingly perfect for no slippery-ness!
We’ve never tried making homemade soap. It’s another one of those things on the never-ending “what I would love to do someday” list. :) Thanks for sharing, Emily Rose, your photos are so elegant as always. :)
Many Blessings,
~Annie~
P.S. I love Homestead Blessings as well…such practical ideas presented by lovely feminine ladies…so inspiring! :)

Hello Emily!
I’ve been following your blog for some time, and always look forward to a new post. :)
My sisters and I just opened an Etsy shop and blog for all the old-fashioned sometimes-random stuff we make. But none of us are photographers, of even very computer savvy for that matter. We’d love it if you’d stop by our shop and tell us what you think of our photos or any tips to improve them.
with love,
Reagan (and Emma and Madeleine) Hand
