There once was an old dollhouse looking for a new home. It was handmade with love, for a special little someone . . . but she grew up and no longer wanted it.
It went to the garage sale, hoping for a new family.
A treasure-seeker found it, and saw the love put into creating it. She bought it with plans to revamp it, re-furnish it, and refine it, so that one day it would could be a dollhouse again.
But, sadly, the treasure-seeker did not have the time or opportunity to bring about her plans. It was time, again, for the dollhouse to find a new home, where hopefully it could be cherished. And that is how I come into the story.
Although I do not play with dolls, or create miniature furniture . . . I do collect old books. And those books were in need of a happy place to reside – a place where they could be seen and enjoyed.
That dollhouse is where the stories in those old books now sit.
An old dollhouse, handmade with love, now filled with old books, being treasured anew.

That’s a good idea to store books in a dollhouse book shelf
In the second to last picture, I have read Stepping heavenward, and I have read the wide wide world #1. I am hoping to get the 2nd book. What is it about?
I love old books…there is so much history within their pages(and wonderful good stories as well) and so often they are discarded because of their age.
What a lovely way to display your treasures and re-purpose at the same time.♥

Your photography skills are excellent Emily! I just love all the various angles you took…books are so beautiful, I love their old pages and reading a book that many have enjoyed over the years and been blessed by. :) Love the creative ways you put your watermark in too. ;) HeHe!

I love books and a dollhouse is the perfect place to store them indeed! :) I once saw in a family crafting magazine where they took a bookshelf and made it into a dollhouse, but this is a lovely idea to use it the other way around! :) I recognized a few Lamplighters and Elsie Dinsmore books in your collection! :)

Oh, how fun! I love the dollhouse idea, but to tell you the truth, I was more excited by your antique book collection. Though we have a pretty good collection of old books — antique shop, thrift store, or garage sale finds — my copies of the books in your photos (Mother, Elsie Dinsmore, The Wide, Wide World, Lamplighter) are all reprints. Your antique copies are lovely!

That is such a neat way of using an old doll house!!!! My mother and I are drooling (well, not really) over those old books! We just LOVE old books like that and have quite a few ourselves! We have about 30 G.A. Henty books and I am slowly collecting the vintage Elsie Dinsmore set! (like the one I saw in one of the photos!)

I love this blog post you did, with the pictures of the old dollhouse and the sweet vintage books. They all look so wonderful lined up on the shelves like that!
I see some Elsie Dinsmore, Stepping Heavenward, and a few other books that I have read before (and others that I want to read soon). I’m sure that reading these old versions of the books are much better than the modern day re-prints. How very delightful to have so many!
